Women and Economic Production: Towards Sustainable Livelihoods in Zimbabwe

Persistent drought and economic collapse in Zimbabwe have seen most, if not all, rural women shifting from the receiving end to giving end. Rural since initiated several livelihood activities make ends meet, as they are most vulnerable whenever left look after children at home. The paper aims examine livelihoods how contribute production Ward 5 of Bikita district. A mixed design form a case study was employed this study. Systematic random sampling used select 40 households, which provided data for out 409 households 5. questionnaires semi-structured interviews collecting instruments. Several were noted ward including seasonal farming, gardening, community-based money lending saving schemes (fushai), informal trading, petty trading selling thatch grass firewood, among others. However, climate change drought, crisis, lack capital poor soils farming methods some constraints faced livelihoods. concludes with recommendations eradicating challenges.
